I am a Research Scientist at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), in the Computer, Electrical and Mathematical Sciences and Engineering (CEMSE) Division, working in the Structural and Functional Bioinformatics group under the mentorship of Prof. Xin Gao. (KAUST profile)

My research focuses on agentic AI systems for scientific discovery, protein design, and AI for synthetic biology. I currently direct enzyme design projects, and over the course of my career I have explored chemical design, antibody design, peptide design, phylogenetics, cancer genomics, and synthetic biology. I also bring industry experience from big-data companies and AI startups, where I worked as a data scientist and product manager.

Representative works include AB-Gen, HELM-GPT, and a ChatGPT-like solution for protein design.
